Top Management Team from Ivanhoe Mines and Kamoa Copper S.A. Visited China Nerin

On May 23rd, a high-level delegation led by Steve Amos, Executive Vice President, Projects of Ivanhoe Mines, and Riaan Vermeulen, Managing Director of Kamoa Copper S.A., visited China Nerin. They were warmly received by Zhang Xiaobo, Party Secretary and Chairman, and Wu Runhua, Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of China Nerin. The two sides held friendly talks.

Zhang Xiaobo extended a warm welcome to Steve and his team, and introduced the development, business philosophy and corporate culture of China Nerin since its establishment more than 60 years ago. He pointed out that Ivanhoe Mines is famous and worthy of respect in the resource industry because of long-term and unique global strategic visions. He also expressed his heartfelt thanks to Ivanhoe Mines for their trust and support to China Nerin. He said that as a technology-driven specialized engineering company that fully participates in the global market competition, China Nerin will try every effort to provide the best technology and services for the construction of Kamoa Copper Smelter with Nerin’s rich experience and extensive knowledge in copper industry. Zhang Xiaobo expected the two sides to further strengthen exchanges and interactions, continuously expand cooperation areas and promote common development.

 Steve thanked China Nerin for supporting Ivanhoe Mines’ development, especially the construction of Kamoa-Kakula Copper Smelter, appreciated the achievements of China Nerin's internationalization strategy, and spoke highly of China Nerin's technical strength and management capability in copper smelting industry. He said that through this exchange visit, he learned the technical advantages of China Nerin in copper smelting, intelligent equipment and green mines, as well as the professionalism and dedication of Nerin’s staff. In this way, the exchange visit deepened mutual understanding and trust, strengthened the confidence of Ivanhoe Mines and Kamoa Copper in cooperation with China Nerin. Steve hoped to further advance strategic cooperation and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results in the future.

 During the meeting, the two sides also conducted in-depth discussions on the implementation of the EPCM project for the 500kta Kamoa-Kakula Copper Smelter undertaken by China Nerin.

Before the workshops, accompanied by General Manager Wu Runhua, the team visited the exhibition hall of the company and went for a field investigation to Jiangxi Nerin Equipment Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Nerin.

Fang Tiansan and Hu Hu, deputy general managers of China Nerin, and relevant department heads also attended the above activities.
